| 18 year old soldier wins £1.5m after road accident. Mr H, an 18 year old soldier hit by a car whilst crossing the road. Liability was initially denied by the Defendant’s who claimed our client ran out between two parked cars into the path of the Defendant’s car. We obtained evidence to show the Defendant must have been speeding and at Court succeeded in favour of our client. He sustained a head injury and a fractured leg. He was left with a short term memory problem, as well as lack of insight into his slight mental impairment. He requires permanent care to manage his finances and assist in problem solving. The initial offer when liability was established was £45,000. This was eventually negotiated to provide him with total damages of £1.5m. |

| Publican wins award of £170,000 after criminal assault Mr K, a 52 year old publican suffered a head injury with some impairment of his senses. He was subjected to an unprovoked attack and suffered a fractured skull and a stab wound. The head injuries were described as life threatening. He suffered permanent loss of his sense of smell, dizzy spells and headaches several times a day and his short-term memory and concentration was compromised. He requires assistance with all household chores. He suffered a significant personality change. Before the assault he was confident, sociable and lively. The Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority initially awarded him only £25,000.There was a successfull appeal and the award was raised to £170,000. |

| Football player receives £38,000 for injury due to a bad tackle. Mr O, a 23 year old buyer, had his dominant right arm fractured as a result of a bad tackle playing football. He received £38,000. An operation was required to insert plates into his arm which was then placed in a full plaster cast for almost a year after the accident. The medical evidence showed that he would continue to suffer from constant pain in his right arm and would suffer weakness and loss of grip in his hand. The Defendant’s denied liability on the basis that he was a volunteer to the risks of football. It was proved that he was tackled from behind and that the offending player had been cautioned. We negotiated damages of £38,000. |
